Overview

A Thousand Maps is a static website. We do not run user accounts, we do not sell products, and we do not collect personal data through forms — there are no forms on this site.

The only data processing that happens here comes from two third parties: Google Analytics, which measures site traffic, and embedded YouTube videos. Both are described below.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and what device they use. This helps us decide which maps to make next.

Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data such as a truncated (anonymized) IP address, pages viewed and time on page. We use this only in aggregate and never try to identify individual visitors. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) or by blocking cookies in your browser.

Third-party content

Some pages embed or link to YouTube. When you play an embedded video or click through to our channel, YouTube and Google may set their own cookies and collect data under their own privacy policy, which we do not control.
